Abstract/Summary

Article detailing the development of the private water supply system to Gunby Hall. The system was thought to have been installed sometime between 1860 and 1880, and initially utilised a hydraulic ram pump. Alterations in the 1900s and 1930s added a wind pump and petrol driven pump to increase the supply and reliability of water to the Hall, before mains water supply made the system redundant in the late 1930s.
