Report on the excavation of three trial trenches, dug at St John the Baptist's Church as part of a community history project to investigate the medieval remains of Sutterby. The investigation exposed the remains of a chamfered stone plinth, extending approximately 2m from the western wall of the church, upon which the building appears to rest. This plinth was not present on the northern side of the church and likely reflects an earlier phase of the building.
