Title Cuthbert's Yard, Burton Road, Lincoln
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2007

Abstract/Summary

Archive for the excavation of two trial trenches, dug to inform proposed residential development on land at Cuthbert's Yard, Burton Road, Lincoln. The investigation revealed a large linear feature, possibly representing part of the main Roman Colonia defensive ditch. The feature was not fully investigated, however, and only the upper fills of post-16th century dumped material were excavated. A small quantity of redeposited Roman and medieval pottery and tile was recovered from the post-medieval dumped deposits though, hinting at an earlier origin for the feature.
