Full Description

A programme of historic building recording was conducted in November 2013, for the former Lord Nelson public house in Dunholme, prior to its demolition in January 2014. It is unclear exactly when the building was originally constructed, though it is thought to date to the early-mid 19th century, and is first listed by name in a county gazetteer, published in 1842. The building was continually and extensively altered over its lifetime, and little of the original internal fabric or arrangement survived. It appears to have originally been comprised of an L-shaped, two-storey structure, constructed of a mixture of limestone rubble and brick, and had been repeatedly whitewashed. When surveyed, the building had a modern pitched roof of cement tiles, as had the single-storey extension to the rear. {1}{2}
