Full Description

A sequence of recent made ground layers were revealed during the groundworks for the construction of new modular buildings at Lincoln College, Monks Road, Lincoln. Some of these layers contained redeposited artefacts of Roman and medieval date, including pottery, tile, animal bone and disarticulated human remains from at least two individuals. Lincoln College lies in an area of known Roman and medieval activity, and the presence of redeposited material mixed into modern levelling deposits is unsurprising. It may be that undisturbed remains still survive, however, below the 0.8m depth that was excavated. {1}{2}
