Full Description

North Coates Wesleyan Methodist chapel was built in 1837, to seat 155. It was rebuilt on the same site in 1864 to seat 150. A schoolroom was opened in 1902. The chapel was sold in 1989 and was subsequently converted into a house. The building is of red brick and has a hipped roof, although the adjoining schoolroom has a gabled roof. There are intricate decorative courses under the eaves, including dentillation and yellow brick 'crosses'. The round-headed window and door arches are of yellow rubbed brick. {1}{2}{3}{4} A white marble memorial tablet inscribed with the names of the fallen from the First World War was unveiled in the chapel in 1920. This tablet was moved during the chapel's conversion to a private dwelling, and is now in the Church of St Nicholas (see MLI41362). {5}
