Full Description

A fluxgate gradiometer survey of land to the north of Langton Hill, Horncastle, was undertaken by ARS in March 2013. It revealed a number of linear features, including a number of former field boundaries of likely post-medieval date. The boundaries were depicted on the 1889 OS map, and some were still extant on 1950's OS mapping. {1} The presence of the buried field boundaries was confirmed during trial trenching on this site in September 2013. {2}{3}
