Full Description

A number of possible pits and ditches of unknown date were identified by magnetometry survey in July 2013, to the immediate north of Welton. Partial traces of a possible ring ditch were also recorded. {1} Subsequent trial trenching, conducted in November 2013, indicated that the majority of features recorded by the geophysical survey appeared to be of natural origin. A single zone of limited archaeological interest was confirmed though, with several features being excavated, including one modern feature and two undated features, thought to be boundary or drainage ditches. No finds were recovered from the latter two features, though stratigraphic relationships indicate that they must have been dug some time prior to the 19th century. {2}{3}
