Full Description

School House, on School Lane, Marston, stands beside Marston School and was probably built as the teachers’ house. It is late 19th century, probably about 1875 when the school was altered, and in a similar architectural style to the adjacent school building. It is built of red brick with ashlar dressings around the window openings and with pitched slate roofs and dog-toothed eaves. The gables are also decorated with dog-toothed brickwork. There is a string course at first floor level that incorporates more dog-toothed decoration and the building has a brick plinth. The windows are two by two, four pane sashes and are original. There are three ridge stacks which are also decorated with dog-toothed courses. Internally there are original fireplaces, doors, staircase and at least one built-in cupboard. English Heritage declined to consider this building for listing in 2013. {1}{2}{3}
