Full Description

The remains of two post holes and a single linear feature were recorded in this location in December 2012, during trial trenching conducted to inform the proposed construction of a new irrigation reservoir. The fills of both post holes were charcoal-rich, although no dating evidence was recovered, and their exact origin and function remains unknown. The linear feature was located a short distance to the south-west of the post holes, and was aligned on a roughly north-east to south-west axis. It was thought possible that this feature represented the remains of a post-medieval field boundary, although no dating evidence was recovered, and its exact function and origin likewise remains uncertain. {1}{2}
