Full Description

Archaeological evaluation and subsequent monitoring of groundworks on land to the rear of 4 to 8 St Mary's Hill, Stamford was undertaken by Pre-Construct Archaeology in 2006. Two east to west aligned boundary walls, a flagstone floor and walls of a propable outbuilding that truncated the medieval town wall was revealed. These features date from the 16th to 17th centuries. A deposit of made ground which included demolition material was also found and this dated from the 18th to 19th centuries. A sherd of 18th to earl 20th century bowl was found within this deposit. {1}{2}
