Full Description

During evaluation in the Eastern Courtyard, Lincoln Castle in 2011, pit digging activity was identified. Lincoln Shelly ware and Lincoln Kiln-type Shelly dating from the mid to late 9th century and Saxo-Norman Lincoln Sandy ware and Torksey ware dating from the mid to late 10th century was excavated which was associated with a pit or scoop cut. Two robber trenches which contained late 10th to 11th century pottery were also revealed. {1}{2}
