The shop at 9 Red Lion Street is a mid-terrace shop in brick with residential accommodation above, and dates from the mid 19th century. The building is three storeys and has had its shop front replaced during the late 20th century. It is a building of modest architectural quality which has undergone various alterations during the 20th century, including the shop front, the replacement of the original windows, a single-storey extension to the rear and the addition of an external stair to the upper-storey living accommodation. It is not an early or rare survival of its type and did not satisfy the criteria for statutory designation in 2011. {1}
