Full Description

A limestone ashlar war memorial with a Latin cross dedicated to the fallen of the Second World War but dating to the 1920s and so probably originally a First World War memorial. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1} This memorial, it seems, dates to 1948. There is a Church of England faculty of 1948 to provide and place a war memorial cross of Clipsham stone about eight feet six inches in height in the churchyard of Castle Bytham. The work to be carried out by G. R. Dicken and Sons Ltd, of Peterborough. This was approved at a meeting of the Parochial Church Council on the 9th December 1947. Seal affixed 4th February 1948. {2}
