Five trial trenches were excavated on land at St Leonard's Priory in October 2009 which revealed medieval features and artefacts. A 10th to 13th century ditch, dated from medieval pottery, was found in Trench 3 (in the west of the site), a 11th to 12th century quarry pit and post hole and a 12th to 13th century pit was found in Trench 1 (in the north west of the site) and 12th to 14th century pottery and medieval masonry, possibly from the demolition of Priory Farm, was found in Trench 5 (in the south east of the site). {1}{2}
