A war memorial dating from around 1921. It is a roughly hewn grantite Celtic cross on a plinth and base. It was originally dedicated to Private Mark Hill as a First World War monument to an individual but was later also dedicated to the village dead of the Second World War. The front face of the plinth is inscribed with "TO THE GLORY OF GOD/AND IN MEMORY OF/(NAME)/GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN/THAN THIS THAT HE LAY DOWN/HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS/THIS MEMORIAL IS ERECTED BY/THE PARISHIONERS". The front face of the base is inscribed "1939 (NAMES) 1945". The memorial was paid for by public subscription. It is a good example of a relatively simple war memorial to the dead of the First and Second World Wars. {1}
