Full Description
Cropmarks of an enclosure of unknown date are visible on an aerial photograph of this area to the north-east of Hemswell Cliff. The feature was described as being an elongated ditched enclosure, aligned on an east to west axis. It measured 73m long by 20m wide, tapering slightly to the east. An interpretation of the feature as a possible Neolithic long barrow was suggested. {1}
This probable enclosure was assessed for scheduling by Historic England in June 2021. It was decided that the criteria for scheduling was not met in this instance, as the feature could not be discerned on more recent aerial imagery, and the degree of its survival was unclear. {2}{3}
