Full Description

A trial trench evaluation carried out in 2009 revealed evidence of post-medieval and modern activity, in the form of ditches marking two field boundaries shown on the the Ordnance Survey maps of 1888 and 1904. One of the boundaries passes to the north of a farm building (probably a barn), the other represents an extension to the south-west of the boundary of allotment gardens shown on the 1904 map. Evidence was also located of the entrance to the allotment gardens. A north to south aligned linear feature (Trench 7, also delineated by the geophysical survey) contained modern material but did not conform to any of the documented boundaries. {1}{2}
