Full Description

Excavation of three evaluation trenches at 74 Newport, in March 2008, revealed a series of Romano-British features and finds. Trench one, located in the south west of the evaluation area, contained 13th to 14th century pottery from a robber pit or gully. A subsequent watching brief was undertaken in September 2008, during the excavation of foundation trenches of a new dwelling on this site. The work revealed a sequence of exterior yard or road surfaces which were maintained until at least the 13th to 14th century. {1}{2}
