Full Description

A pair of square ashlar piers, built in the mid 18th century and flanked by pairs of lower piers containing wooden pedestrian gates, with a curved screen wall to either side. The main gate piers have semi-circular headed panels containing a variety of scrolled cartouches, square panels, brackets, acanthus leaves and other elements. Above are elaborate leafed cornices with concave sides which have gadrooned swagged and bracketed ball finials. The pierced wooden pedestrian gates have lower similarly decorated piers beyond. The balustraded screen walls are surmounted by urns at the principal bay divisions and there are three to each side.
