Full Description

Grade II listed war memorial, dating from about 1918 and by Reginald Blomfield. It is limestone ashlar. The west side of the upper step is inscribed: "To the Glory of God and in honoured Memory of all those who served their country in the Great War 1914-1918. Especially of those who fell whose names are here inscribed." The east, north and south sides are inscribed with eleven names. For the full description of this listed building please refer to the National Heritage List for England. {1} Rippingale War Memorial commemorates those who died fighting in the First World War. Unveiled in 1920, it stands in the far south-eastern corner of St Andrew's churchyard. The memorial stands at almost 20ft (6m) high and consists of a Weldon stone gabled crucifix standing on a moulded cap above a pillar on a plinth and two-stepped base. It was designed by Mr Wilfrid Bond of Grantham and executed by Messrs Bowman and Sons of Stamford. {2}
