Full Description

Grade II listed steps and a pair of statues, dating from the late 17th century. There are seven ashlar steps with low balustrade walls, slightly moulded coping and square pedestals. On the pedestals are two life-size figures in Classical costume. Pevsner tentatively attributes these figures to C. G. Cibber, who carved a nearby sundial (qv) for Sir John Brownlow. Marsden and Barber describe them as being Italian from the 18th century. For the full description of this listed building please refer to the National Heritage List for England. {1}
