Full Description
PRN 37902
This mid 19th century two storey stone building was originally stabling for Rock House (PRN 37638). For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1}
This building was built around 1844 by Richard Newcombe as a pair of houses and shops. Stables and warehouses were added to the rear shortly afterwards. The houses have projecting original shop fronts and are separated by a pedimented archway leading to the stableyard. The stables are arranged as two parallel two storey ranges linked by a wide arch leading to the warehouses. There are four parallel vaulted warehouses with cottages over. They appear to be built into the side of a quarry. {2}
