Full Description
Grade II listed monument to Sir Robert Theraubar, dating from 1854. For the full description of this listed building please refer to the National Heritage List for England. {1}
The last line of the formal listing description says that 'inscription weathered but name of Sir Robert Theraubar, the last of his line, and the date XXIX V DCCCLIV visible." In fact, although the inscription is weathered, it reads: 'BENEATH ARE DEPOSITED THE REMAINS OF SIR ROBERT HERON BART THE LAST OF HIS FAMILY WHO DIED MAY XXIX MDCCCLIV AGED LXXXVIII AND OF AMELIA HIS WIFE ...' The rest is indecipherable. Amelia died 12th December 1847. There is also an indecipherable inscription on the south side of the monument. {2}
