Full Description

Grade II listed former outbuilding of old Swinstead Hall, converted to a school and now being converted to a house, dating from about 1720, probably by Sir John Vanbrugh, and converted in about 1800 and 1985. It is coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and quoins and has a yellow pantile roof with a single gable and massive ridge stone stacks. White's 1856 directory describes the school as having been the kitchen of a large hall taken down by the last Duke of Ancaster (who died in 1809). For the full description of this listed building please refer to the National Heritage List for England. {1}
