Full Description

A 1919 war memorial constructed of ashlar in the form of a medieval cross with a crucifixion. It has an octagonal shaft with hollow chamfers which rise to a castellated top supporting a gabled crucifixion. The base sits on three octagonal steps and has inscribed slate plaques on each face. It is situated on High Street between Bourne Road and Back Lane and was unveiled in 1920. The memorial is made up of a twenty feet (six metres) high wayside cross executed in Clipsham stone. {2}
