[Note - where there is confusion or discrepancy between sources regarding the date of a building, the Royal Commission survey (which is the most detailed and recent) has been taken as the most reliable.]
This house is part of one building with no. 4 (PRN 37851). It is mostly timber framed and has a late 16th century origin. It was originally part of the Blue Bell Inn which was described as newly built in 1595. The Inn was subdivided into separately leased sections, most of which were used as shops with accommodation, during the 17th century. The carriage arch is an original feature of the inn. A rear wing was also added in the 18th century. The shop front is early 19th century. The interior layout is also 19th century. {1}
This two storey coursed rubble house dates to the 17th century [this date is probably incorrect - see above]. It has a slate roof shared with no. 4, but is currently being re-roofed. It has a good early 19th century projecting shop front. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {2}
