- COUNTRY HOUSE (Post Medieval to Modern - 1770 AD? to 2050 AD)
Protected Status/Designation
Full Description
Country house dating from the early 19th century. Built of red brick with a 20th century tile roof with two gable stacks and brick coped gables. Built to an L-shaped plan, and of two storeys with a 3-bay front. For the full description of this listed building please refer to the National Heritage List for England. {1}
The current Dunton Hall was built as a replacement for an earlier, likely late 17th century hall (see MLI22336). This earlier structure was demolished at some point in the mid 18th century, no later than 1786. The exact date for the construction of the current Dunton Hall is not clear, and a late 18th century date (possibly shortly after the earlier hall's demolition) could well be likely. {4}
