Full Description

Grade I listed former priests' vicars lodgings, now two houses. It was begun late 13th century by Bishop Sutton and completed in about 1309, altered in the 15th century, reroofed and altered in the late 17th century and further altered in the late 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. It is dressed stone with a pantile roof and two gable stacks. For the full description of this listed building please refer to the National Heritage List for England. {1} Tree-ring analysis of oak timbers from the roof of 3-3A Vicars' Court, Lincoln revealed a felling date of 1289 to 1334 for the original medieval roof. Reused medieval timbers from another building had also been inserted. The primary timbers for the new roof were felled in 1663/1664 or just after. {2}
