Full Description
A stable block and stores, now a house and garage, dating from the 18th century which underwent alterations in the 20th century. It was constructed of red brick and has a pantile roof with raised brick coped gables with single ridge and external gable stacks. {1}
A building survey was undertaken in 2022 on Roughton Hall and the stable block in advance of a partial demolition and remodel. The survey noted that while references have been made to the building as a coach house, the fixtures and fittings are more in keeping with a stables and associated workshops and stores. The building appears to have been changed to partial domestic use at some stage with the addition of chimneys, although the smaller chimneys on the extension at the south and north end of the building may have served as a wash house or a "loose box" to house foaling mares of sick animals. {2}{3}
