Full Description

Farm buildings and small outbuilding, built of brick with Welsh slate roofs. A stable block is attached to one of the farm buildings which was also built of brick but has a pantile roof. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1} A photographic recording of Church Farm, Winthorpe was made for a Statement of Significance report by Pre-Construct Archaeology in May 2012. The farm buildings were extensively remodelled in the second half of the nineteenth century, adopting their present layout by 1887. They occupied the north, east and west sides of a crew yard, with a two-storey barn and cartshed with hay and grain storage above forming the north range, and stabling and cattle accommodation forming the single-storey east and west ranges. They were built of brick with slate roofs, a departure from the locally traditional pantiles, and suggestive of a date towards the end of the nineteenth century. {2}
