Full Description

A warehouse built in 1821 which was constructed of red brick and has a pantile roof with raised coped gables. To the right gable is a blocked window with a seven staged pigeon loft opening above it. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1} The warehouse has the initials 'TP' and the date 1821 picked out in dark burnt headers on the gable end. The TP initials are those of Thomas Parker a farmer and merchant of North Coates who built the warehouse on land he owned at Thoresby Bridge in 1821 (for Thoresby Bridge hamlet see PRN48949). His son Henry Parker, corn and coal merchant and brick and tile maker, is recorded in White's 1842 Directory at Thoresby Bridge and he must have inherited his father's business interests in the locality including this warehouse. Henry Parker is also recorded as a merchant at Thoresby Bridge in the 1841 census. {2}{3}
