Full Description
Cottage dating from the mid 18th century. Of whitewashed mud and stud construction, with some rendered brick and weather-boarding to each gable apex. Features a pantile roof with overhanging eaves, and a single red brick ridge chimney stack. The building has a lobby entry plan, and is single-storey with garret, with an eastern principal front of four bays. Observations and structural condition notes were made during a site visit conducted in August 2026, done to inform proposed alterations to the building. White Cottage is a timber-framed dwelling with mud and stud infill, thought to date from the 18th century. A sequence of later alterations and extensions have been made, including the replacement of substantial wall portions with brick, mostly laid in English Garden Wall bond. The roof is thought to have been re-tiled with new pantiles at some point in the 1980s, with some replacement rafters and purlins installed at the same time. {3}
