Full Description

A late 16th century house, with 18th, 19th and 20th century alterations and extensions, now converted to shops and a flat. The building is timber-framed, with rendered and painted brick panels, and a pantile roof. The front block of two storeys and three bays has an exposed first floor sill beam, with two corner and two central posts, and curved braces to the upper floors, as well as slender intermediate posts. The central door and a ground floor window are modern. At first floor level are two three light, 18th century, leaded windows. In the left-hand gable end is exposed panel framing with Roman numeral numbered joints. The north side is rendered with painted-on framing. Attached to the rear is an 18th century range in painted brick with a tall, red brick ridge chimney stack and windows of 19th and 20th century date. A further 19th century single bay extension has a crow stepped gable. The interior of the front range retains chamfered girders.
