Full Description

PRN 37148 A park recorded on the c.1905 Ordnance Survey map at Caythorpe Court, Caythorpe. It is not recorded on the c.1880 Ordnance Survey map. {1}{2} A park containing an early 20th century formal garden, with mid 20th century development. It was designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield in 1899, who also designed the framework of the garden. It is now an agricultural college and part of the Lincolnshire College of Agriculture and Horticulture. Caythorpe Court retains five hectares of woodland to the west and north of the house. The gates, flanking walls and lodge, on the north boundary of the estate, were all by Blomfield in c.1900. Blomfield's main contribution to the garden is on the west side of the court, where he designed a double terrace, dating from c.1900, with balustrades and double staircases at each level. These terraces are aligned with the axis of the garden and the centre west front of the building. There are also lawns and ornamental trees and some formal bedding survives. {3}, Area 15h.
