Summary

The banks and clay lining the Lincoln Waterworks Company Reservoir were revealed during trial trenching. Pits and post medieval walls and mid to late 16th to 17th century pottery was also uncovered.

Full Description

PRN 70631 Trial trenching at Chapel Lane in August 2008 revealed evidence of post medieval activity in the vicinity. The banks and clay lining the Lincoln Waterworks Company Reservoir, constructed after 1842, but before 1851, were revealed. Pits and other post medieval walls recorded on the Ordnance Survey maps were also uncovered. Finds included mid to late 16th to 17th century pottery. {1}{2}
