Full Description

PRN 37132 A historic park recorded on the c.1880 and c.1905 Ordnance Survey maps at Casewick Hall, Uffington. {1} That part of the parkland immediately around the Hall has been designated as a Conservation Area. This is only the central part of the more extensive park that surrounded the Hall from the eighteenth century and possibly earlier. There are exotic trees and shrubs including Turkish hazel, and Caucasian wing-nut, as well as native species such as oak and ash. There are formal lawned gardens to the south-west of the Hall, providing a setting for the Hall's Gothic facade. There are more informal gardens to the north-west of the Hall with grassed areas interspersed with areas of bushes and examples of specimen trees. There are woodlands to the north, east and south of the Hall that provide a backdrop for the Conservation Area and separate the residential area from the original more extensive parkland beyond. {3}
