Full Description

A historic park recorded on the 1907 Ordnance Survey map in Market Stainton, containing ancient trees and several features predating The Hall, e.g. ridge and furrow (MLI84766) and tree ring (MLI84768). The grounds appear to have been utilised as an encampment, likely associated with RAF Market Stainton, during the Second World War, with the 1948 OS map showing some of the remaining huts inside the grounds. Just outside of the present day boundary of the parkland are the ruins of a former maintenance building to the RAF station made of reinforced concrete and red brick. {1}{2}{3}
