Full Description

The gas works at Bardney were established in 1863, with the Bardney Gas, Light and Coke Company being incorporated in December 1874. The works were located on the site of an existing coal wharf, to the north-east of Bardney Bridge. Production at the works is thought to have stopped by 1924, when the site was sold at auction. Almost all of the former works buildings have since been demolished, with only the former workers cottage still surviving (see MLI125804). {1}{2}{3}
