Summary

Cornwall Terrace, Woodhall Spa.

Type and Period (1)

Protected Status/Designation

Full Description

Terrace of 9 houses designed by Richard Adolphus Came in the Queen Anne revival style, most retaining their original matching gates. They are considered to be of townscape value by the Conservation Area Appraisal. {1} The terrace was constructed as part of Richard Adolphus Came's initial plan for the new town of Woodhall Spa, begun in 1887. The 1st edition 6 inch Ordnance Survey County Series map shows the plot as empty, however, and the buildings are not depicted until the 2nd edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey County Series map, suggesting construction did not begin until c.1890. {2}
