Full Description

Two ditches and a pit or tree throw, all probably dating from the 17th/18th century, were revealed during trial trenching, undertaken by Allen Archaeological Associates in March 2008, at land to the rear of 47 to 49 Willoughby Road. The features may form part of a rectilinear enclosure or coaxial field system. 17th/18th century pottery was also recovered during the evaluation. A further ditch was cut during the later 18th to early 19th century, possibly to alleviate the effects of flooding. 19th/20th century post holes and pits were revealed from the upper layers of the site suggesting the site was probably in agricultural useage until the present day. {1}{2}
