Full Description

PRN 65167 A scatter of Anglo-Saxon pottery, including rims and a base, was seen during fieldwalking. A small piece of copper alloy with incised decoration and traces of gilding, thought to be of Anglo Saxon date, was also found and an Anglo-Saxon iron spear head was found nearby at TF 0443 4312. (Note - the location given for this site is approximate.) {1} The copper alloy fragment has been identified as part of a Saxon cruciform brooch of a 6th century style. The spearhead is thought to date from the 6th-7th century. It is possible that both items were from graves. {2}
