Full Description
PRN 36907
A probable iron smelting site was revealed during a watching brief. Although the site did not produce associated dateable artefactual material, similarities between the slag from this site and others in Stamford suggest a late Saxon or Saxo-Norman date. This site may be related to other finds of smithing slag in the area of the school (see PRN 35257). {1}{2}
