Full Description

Sutton Bridge Camp was a Prisoner of War camp during the Second World War. In the official government numbering it was camp 254 and referred to as Sutton Bridge Camp, Holbeach. It is recorded as a German working camp and was located on a disused RAF airfield. The site has now been largely demolished. {1} Sutton Bridge Camp was a Prisoner of War camp used during the Second World War. Contrary to information given in Source 1, Sutton Bridge Camp was not on the site of the airfield but was nearby, to the north of Sutton Bridge, on the west side of the river. The German prisoners were housed in a camp near the timber yard. The camp is depicted on the 6" Ordnance Survey map of the early 1950's. {2}{3}{4}
