Full Description
A Second World War Stanton air raid shelter, located towards the north-eastern corner of Sutton Bridge Golf Course. The structure can be clearly discerned on the Google Maps satellite imagery layers, aligned on a roughly north-east to south-west axis, and with entrances at both ends. The structure was likely associated with the surrounding Sutton Bridge Prisoner of War camp (see MLI90567), to be used by guards and/or prisoners on the site in the event of an air raid. It is thought that there were originally six such shelters on the site, though this appears to be the only surviving example. {1}{2}
