Full Description

PRN 64667 Stone ribbed footbridge over The Beck, with chamfered ribs and two long stones through. The abutments are of stone with brick repairs. {1} The bridge was initially thought to be of medieval date and in situ. However, closer examination revealed it to be a 19th century structure built of re-used medieval stones from an earlier bridge situated further to the west (see PRN 64668). It was in very poor condition when it was investigated in 1969/70, and it is not clear whether it was repaired or replaced. {2} A bridge is still shown at this site on current maps and aerial photographs although it is not clear whether this is the original bridge or a replacement. {3}
