Full Description
PRN 64658
During the excavation of an Anglo Saxon site (PRN 64656), ditches and plough marks of Roman date were observed. These are thought to represent a field system. Romano-British pottery, including greyware and colour coated ware, roof tile and hypocaust tile were also found which may indicate the presence of a building. Evidence of rubbish pits was also noted. {1}{2}
A bronze coin of Constantius II was found in this field. {1}
A water pipeline passed through this site in 1979 and Romano-British pottery, stone and "features" were noted. The pottery included an almost complete calcite gritted jar. {1}
