Full Description
PRN 64581
Several Neolithic features were revealed during a watching brief, and were subsequently excavated. The earliest features were a tree throw hollow and associated gully dated to the early Neolithic period and possibly representing early tree clearance. A segmented ring ditch of later Neolithic type was also uncovered. No occupation evidence was found in or near this ditch and it is suggested that the ditch represents a monumental construction. Some later pottery was found in the ditch fill but it is likely that this is intrusive and the result of later agricultural activity. {1}{2}
