Full Description

A series of post-medieval ditches and gullies were identified in 2006, during a watching brief for a new electricity substation at Bicker Fen. These features pre-date the existing drainage dyke, which was probably constructed during Enclosure in the 18th century. The ditches and gullies appear to have been dug during times of flood to prevent waterlogging of the higher ground. {1}{2}
