Old Vicarage. 1871 by Ewan Christian. Tudor Gothic. Polychrome brickwork, with a half-hipped gable and pointed-arched tympanum, a la Butterfield.{1}
This is a building identified as of historical interest by the South Holland District Council Local List. It is a good example of this style of building of this period but has, in the past, been altered and has lost many of its original features and its historic character. {2}
A former vicarage built in 1871 of polychromatic brick with stone dressings under slate gabled roofs, in a Tudor-Gothic Revival style. It is an irregular building with a detached stable block to the north which was converted to residential use in 2007. The Vicarage was built immediately to the west of the new church in 1871 and like the church was designed by Ewan Christian. The incumbent was the Rev. George Frederick Foxton (vicar 1871-96). The Vicarage was sold in 1984 and converted to a residential nursing home. It has had further extensions and alterations. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {3}{4}
